Every piece tells a story. We craft furniture by hand using traditional joinery techniques and sustainably sourced hardwoods. No nails. No shortcuts. Just honest work.

The Craftsman

Michael Torres founded Williamsburg Woodcraft in 2008 after apprenticing for twelve years under master cabinetmakers in Vermont and upstate New York. His philosophy is simple: build furniture that outlives its builder.

Today, Michael works alongside Sarah Chen, a journeyman furniture maker who joined the shop in 2019. Together they create pieces that honor traditional methods while meeting modern needs.

Our Process

Consultation

We visit your space, discuss your needs, and sketch preliminary ideas. No charge for the first meeting.

Design & Wood Selection

You choose from our stock of seasoned hardwoods—white oak, black walnut, cherry, or reclaimed lumber. We finalize drawings.

Hand Crafting

Using hand planes, chisels, and traditional joinery—mortise and tenon, dovetails, wedged through-tenons—we build your piece.

Finishing & Delivery

Hand-rubbed oil finishes or traditional shellac. We deliver and install personally throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Visit the Workshop

Our workshop is open by appointment. We prefer to give each client our full attention. Call ahead or stop by during open hours.
